How wonderful to be able to spend time with your family and watch your son take in the beauty of our world. I had the pleasure of meeting both George's in April and they were delightful. Your photos are gorgeous.
In 1976 -- myfirst time at Yellowstone as a worker at OFI--I took my very first backpack trip EVER into Heart Lake. I had a day pack with a flimsy sleeping bag and wore new hiking boots that weighed about 30 lbs! And it poured!! My friend did have a tent, but everything was drenched the next day, so we hiked back out.
But ya know what? It was glorious! And I was hooked! One of THE most beautiful hikes in the park. I did go in again on my subsequent work years at the park, and with much more backpacking knowledge and much better equipment.
Thank you for this post. I really enjoyed it, and it brought back many great memories.
Wow Lynn, that sounds like an adventure for sure! I love so much that Heart Lake was your first trip. It definitely feels like a magical place. Thanks for sharing your story.
