In a world that often feels noisy, disconnected, and polarized, Wilder Life is a haven. It’s a place for those of us yearning for a more intentional way of life; a space to rediscover meaning, joy, and belonging through slow living, creativity, and deep nature connection, in community with like minded souls.
In truth, I created Wilder Life because it’s the kind of community I’ve been craving—a space to belong.
Not the kind of shallow belonging shaped by social media algorithms or driven by ads, but a sanctuary for kindred spirits seeking an authentic way to live in our crazy disconnected world.
A gathering space where we can be fully ourselves—sharing creative projects, marveling at natural wonders large and small, and exploring the wild places within us that others might not always understand. Here, we embrace our innate creativity, align with our true selves and purpose, and connect with kindred spirits who celebrate the untamed beauty of both nature and our inner lives.
What is a “Wilder Life”?
To me, living a Wilder Life means weaving nature and creativity into the fabric of everyday life. It’s a lifestyle that is deeply attuned to nature, to place, and the more than human world. It’s about walking away from the endless scroll of social media and digital distraction, and waking up to the beauty of the present moment found in the call of a bird, the sway of the trees, or the quiet moments of our own inner landscapes.
Living a wilder life opens doorways; to deeper meaning, creativity, sense of place, and connection—to our wild selves, our human neighbors, and the intricate web of life that sustains us all. It’s a lifestyle that explores the creativity that comes from a connection to nature and a search for meaning.
Finally, a Wilder Life is about finding the courage to step off the beaten path and into a wild journey all our own, discovering our purpose and the kind of life we want to create.
A “Wild” Community
I’ve been dreaming of this community and space for a long time. Striving to walk differently in the world can be a lonely path. Living a wilder life is a practice—something we are forced to strive for between the cracks of the “tame world” (as filmmaker and author Craig Foster calls the confines of modern civilization in his soul stirring book Amphibious Soul: Finding the Wild in a Tame World ). Somewhere between the chaos of deadlines, caregiving, and the relentless parade of to do’s I call “being pecked by ravens” lies the potential for a more authentic existence. It’s not always an easy path, which is why the journey is richer and more rewarding in the company of friends.
So. This is an invitation to seek a wilder life. In this space, there are no ads, no algorithms deciding what you see—just real conversations, shared experiences, and genuine relationships.
Here, we support one another in cultivating curiosity, presence, and joy, while exploring what it means to truly connect in an isolated, polarized world. A place where we hold space for each other as we dive deep into our true purpose and design lives more aligned with what truly matters.
Think of it as the Web 3.0 we all need: a heartfelt, interactive community where connection matters more than clicks or likes. Will you join me?
Here’s what you can look forward to in this space as a subscriber:
In regular posts, newsletters, and notes I’ll share dispatches from the natural world here at home on the north border of Yellowstone National Park and on travels abroad, as well as reflections on the joys, challenges, and lessons of striving for a wilder life.
Regular posts and essays are free and open to everyone to comment, connect and contribute.
Those who are ready to dive in deep to create a wilder life can join the paid community (coming soon!) where members can join live sessions, weekly nature and creativity prompts, members only chat sessions and online meet ups, and the Wilder Life Academy archive of resources and courses.
If you’ve found your way here, please drop a comment below to say hello, and let me know what your “wilder life” looks like.
Jenny, I was not aware of your Substack until just now and have just finished reading your posts and doing the meditation. To say that this is just what I needed at this moment seems like a gross understatement. I have always looked at myself as a calm person but I have felt an outrage building inside me recently, which has threatened to unleash itself. Although I want to stay informed and stay connected to people such as you and George on FB, standing for what I believe in publicly has just invited some to say I am being divisive, which frustrates me even more. So, going forward, for the time being, I will silently support those who are in need by volunteering more and getting out in nature more, which has been curtailed due to a recent knee replacement. I can’t thank you enough. You are such a gifted woman.
Hello, I just found your Substack through your headline post in Writers at Work chat. Delighted to to subscribe to someone on the other side of the Atlantic who is a kindred spirit. Like you, I’ve just started my publication (and struggle with headlines).
