100 Wild Hours

Welcome to 100 Wild Hours, simple weekly prompts that invite you to weave nature and creativity into your daily life to help you cultivate mindfulness, belonging, and a sense of place.

Nature is incredible; it’s around us, and available, all the time. Add in a creative focus and some attention to engaging your senses, and we have a powerful mechanism for bypassing our thinking minds and connecting with the present moment.

100 Wild Hours is about making space—to reconnect, to reawaken your creativity, and to cultivate joy, presence, and a deeper relationship with the natural world. It’s a doorway through which you can bring the magic and beauty of nature into your everyday.

100 Wild Hours is also about belonging - to the more than human world around us, and to the human community sharing this journey towards feeling more connected and alive.

Why 100 Wild Hours?

20 minutes in nature has been shown to be the amount of time that results in a significant drop in cortisol levels. For us personally, it’s this magical threshold where the body and mind seems to settle into the beauty of the present moment. 20 minutes a day on most days of the year ends up being about 100 hours, hence, 100 Wild Hours! The tracking part is completely optional; if keeping track of your minutes and hours is motivating to you, then please do it and share! This is YOUR journey.

How it works

💌 Each week on Thursday I’ll email an invitation - a way of feeling, sensing, being, noticing in nature. I’ll include a creative prompt which you can try if you’d like.

Once a month (ish) I’ll host a multi day “challenge” to encourage more focused time outside. Things like sit spot challenge, nature breaks, etc. These will be posted here too.

Each week’s invitation or monthly challenge will also be linked below, so that you can scroll through the invitations and pick a different invitation if the one for the week doesn’t resonate with you, or you want to try more!

🌳 You’ll spend focused, mindful time in nature as often as you can, and post about it! We recommend a minimum of 20 minutes, as that’s what we’ve found allows the body and mind to truly settle into presence. How you spend that time is up to you, but we recommend a sit spot, or a slow wander, with your phone on airplane mode, and with minimal distractions.

📸 Share your experiences with like minded folks in the community chat.

✏️ You can track your minutes/hours if that’s motivating to you.

Make it your own

This practice is yours—make it your own! The point is to make the time and get out there. Like strengthening a muscle, the more you do it, the easier it gets—and even brief moments can open the door to greater awareness, joy, and new ways of seeing. And even if it feels like it’s not working… it’s working!!!
